About
Welcome to Mexican Village, a delightful culinary hotspot nestled in the heart of Grand Forks, North Dakota. Located at 1218 S Washington St, this restaurant has earned its stripes as a top choice for Mexican cuisine, boasting a rich legacy as the first Mexican eatery in the city. With a reputation built on years of satisfied customers, Mexican Village is not just a restaurant; it’s a vibrant community hub where each dish tells a story.
As you step into Mexican Village, the inviting aroma wafting from the kitchen instantly sets the mood for an extraordinary dining experience. The decor reflects a charming, welcoming ambiance that perfectly complements the hearty portions served here. Customers rave about the generous servings and the comforting flavors that characterize every meal. Catherine Johnson sums it up best with her sentiment: “Never a bad experience in all the years my family has been going there. #1 Mexican restaurant for us.” It’s clear that the heart and soul of this establishment resonate with many.
Among the heavy hitters on the menu, the freshly made salsa takes center stage; patrons can't stop talking about its delightful punch, often paired with an incredible selection of dishes. Many guests note that while not every aspect is perfectly authentic, the flavors are undeniably good, enticing them to return for more. According to Jessica Winkels, the Mexican Street Corn Po'Boy is a must-try, featuring perfectly fried shrimp paired with chipotle tartar and spicy coleslaw that creates a phenomenal culinary experience.
But it’s not just the food that makes Mexican Village special; the warmth of the staff radiates throughout the restaurant. Many diners, like Delta Saunders, commend the friendly service that adds a layer of charm to each visit. The experience is further enhanced by the cleanliness of the establishment, which makes for a comfortable dining environment.
Affordability, large portions, and an ever-evolving menu make Mexican Village a sought-after destination for local food lovers. Even as they introduce seasonal items, such as selections from the new fall menu, the essence of what makes this establishment a favorite remains intact. Although one guest, Mehmet, found the rice and beans slightly dry, he appreciated the clean atmosphere and friendly faces welcoming him.
In summary, Mexican Village stands as a beacon of flavor and community spirit in Grand Forks. Whether you are craving classic Mexican fare or wishing to explore unique offerings like their Mexican Jambalaya, the flavors here promise to delight and satisfy. “ One of the good places for affordable Mexican & little to no wait. Not entirely sure it's authentic but it's still good! We just went there & they have a new fall menu that you really should try. (Hopefully they move the two things we had to the regular menu). We had the guac as an app and it wasn't quite what we were expecting but it was okay. Really creamy (no chunks like you expect) and could have used a touch more salt and/or lime. We had the Mexican Jambalaya, flavors were awesome, rice was a tad dry for our taste but it was made with Spanish rice, but the fried shrimp...just give me a plate of those & I'd be happy. They were terrific! We also had the Mexican Street Corn Po'Boy and that was fenominal!! A chipolte tartar, spicy coleslaw, corn salsa, & the same perfectly fried shrimp...I was in heaven! We love the friendly staff that always greets us with a smile & we will always continue to come back. ”
“ It is an affordable and clean restaurant, there are small sections for each table, I liked the concept. People were nice and welcoming. The rice and beans were little dry though. ”
